Necrology

Maurice was born on the 6th December 1942 to Maurice and Margarite Marie Noella(nee Fallowfield) in Mumbai (Bombay), India. He entered the English Province of the Servite Order on the 15th October 1961, He took simple vows on the 17th October 1962 and was Solemn Professed on the 24th October 1965. Maurice was ordained to the Priesthood on the 12th January 1968. He volunteered for the Swaziland Missions and went there on the 29th October 1968, spending 42 years there. Maurice died in the 67th year of his life and the 45th year of his Religious Profession. Maurice is buried in the Servite Plot, Piggs Peak, Swaziland, Africa.

Patrick was born on the 12th April 1952 in Dublin, Ireland to James and Sheila (nee Callaghan). Patrick entered the Eastern American Province of the Servite Order in Dublin in September 1971 and entered the Servite Novitiate in Chicago on the 12th August 1972 He was simple professed on the 4th August 1973 and received Solemn Profession on the 27th June 1979. Patrick was ordained on the 5th January 1980. He was elected Prior Provincial of the Province of the Isles in September 2009. Patrick died on the 10th April 2010 in the 57th year of his life and the 31st of Religious Profession. Patrick is buried in the family plot at Mount Venus Cemetery, Dublin.

Aloysius (John Joseph) was born on the 10th February 1931 in Glasgow, Scotland to John and Susanna (nee McKenna). Aloysius entered the English Province of the Servite Order on the 17th June 1951. He was Simple Professed on the 21st September 1952 and received Solemn Profession on the 3rd October 1955. Aloysius was ordained on the 7th April 1958. Aloysius died on the 24th May 2009 in the 78th year of his life and the 54th year of his Religious Profession. Aloysius is buried in the Servite Graveyard, Benburb, Co. Tyrone.

James was born on the 5th August 1901 to Joseph and Catherine Keane (nee Halloran) in Chicago, Illinois U.S.A. He entered the Servite Province of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Chicago on the 15th August 1920. He was Simple Professed on the 8th September 1921 and received Solemn Profession on the 10th September 1924. James was ordained a priest on the 8th August 1926. He founded the Servite Priory in Benburb in 1947. He died in Ladysmith, Wisconsin on the 19th September 1975 and is buried in the Servite Graveyard, Benburb, Co. Tyrone.

Augustine was born on the 8th September 1921 in Moate, Co. Westmeath to Joseph and Catherine Daly (nee McHale). He entered the Servite order at Benburb on the 18th September 1949, received Simple Profession on the 1st October 1950 and received Solemn Profession on the 11th October 1954. Augustine was ordained a priest on the 15th September 1956. Augustine died on the 1st January 1962 in Gelsenkirchen-Baer, Germany and is buried in the Servite Graveyard in Germany.

Conleth was born on the 2nd January 1927 in Derry, Co. Derry. He entered the Servite Order at Benburb in 16th September 1951, received Simple Profession on the 21st September 1952 and received Solemn Profession on the 16th September 1955. Conleth was ordained a priest on the 22nd June 1958. Conleth died in Dublin on the 12th January 1963 and is buried in the Servite Graveyard, Benburb, Co. Tyrone.

Manettus was born on the 21st March 1916 to Terence and Helen Brady (nee Melanaphy) in Belfast, Antrim. He entered the Servite Order at Benburb on the 28th April 1957 received his Simple Profession on the 1st May 1958, and received Solemn Profession on the 7th May 1961. Manettus died in Benburb, on the 1st June 1985 and is buried in the Servite Graveyard, Benburb, Co. Tyrone.

Ralph was born on the 9th May 1935 to Thomas and Catherine O’Brien (nee McNamara) in Limerick, Ireland. He entered the Servite Order in Chicago on the 19th September 1954, received his Simple Profession on the 25th September 1955 and received his Solemn Profession on the 5th October 1958. Ralph was ordained a priest on the 2nd July 1961. Ralph died in Chicago on 11th October 1987 and is buried in the Servite Graveyard, Chicago, U.S.A.

Denis was born on the 14th January 1952 to Joseph and Shiela McSwiney (nee O’Shea) in Cork. He re-entered the Servite Order on the 15th September 1973 in Rome, Italy, received Simple Promise on the 31st August 1974 and received Solemn Profession on the 25th November 1978. Denis was ordained a priest on 9th June 1979. Denis died in Cork on the 4th November 1987 and is buried in the family plot in Cork, Ireland.

Joseph was born on the 27th October 1929 in Belfast to Patrick and Margaret Madden (nee Connor). He entered the Servite Order at Benburb on the 18th September 1949, received Simple Profession on the 2nd October 1950 and received Solemn Profession on the 4th October 1953. Joseph was ordained a priest on the 8th July 1956. Joseph died in Dublin, Ireland on the 25th March 1993 and is buried in the family plot in Milltown Cemetery, Belfast.

Joseph was born on the 12 May 1921 to Joseph and Margaret Byrne (nee Doonan) in Bray Co. Wicklow, Ireland. He entered the Servite Order at Benburb on the 8th December 1950, received Simple Profession on the 2nd February 1952 and received Solemn Profession on the 12th February 1955. Joseph was ordained to the Permanent Diaconate on the 10th June 1978. Joseph died in Chicago on the 27th April 1995 and is buried in the Servite Graveyard in Chicago, U.S.A.

Malachy was born on the 20th June 1934 in Dungannon, Co. Tyrone to John and Catherine Skelton (nee Mallon). He entered the Servite Order at Benburb on the 21st September 1952, received Simple Profession on the 27th September 1953 and received Solemn Profession on the 30 September 1956. Malachy was ordained a priest on the 17th May 1959. Malachy was killed in Mtubatuba, Zululand on the 24th October 1997 and is buried in the Servite Graveyard, Zululand, South Africa.

Kevin was born on the 12th May 1921 in Dublin to Joseph and Margaret O’Byrne (nee Doran). He entered the Servite Order in Benburb on the 17th September 1950, received Simple Profession on the 2nd February 1952 and received Solemn Profession on the 12th February 1955. Kevin died in Chicago on the 1998 and is buried in the Servite Graveyard, Chicago U.S.A.

Vincent was born on the 21st August 1925 in Ballymagenthy, Co. Down to Patrick and Florence McGlue (nee Middleton). He entered the Servite Order at Benburb on the 8th December 1954, received Simple Profession on the 11 December 155 and received Solemn Profession on the 10th May 1959. Vincent died in Dublin on the 25th April 1998 and is buried in the Servite Graveyard, Benburb, Co. Tyrone.

Frank was born on the 10th May 1932 in Clonfeacle, Co. Tyrone to Patrick and Mary Mallon (nee Molloy). He entered the Servite Order at Benburb on the 15th September 1963, received Simple Profession on the 20th September 1964 and received Solemn Profession on the 23rd December 1967. Frank died in Dublin on the 13th February 1999 and is buried in the Servite Graveyard, Benburb, Co. Tyrone.

Gabriel was born on the 14th October 1926 in Lugatane, Drumsna, Co. Roscommon to Patrick and Elizabeth Bracken (nee McDermott). He entered the Servite order at Benburb on the 25th March 950, received Simple Profession on the 13th May 1951 and received Solemn Profession on the 13th May 1954. Gabriel died in Benburb on the 19th April 2002 and is buried in the Servite Graveyard, Benburb, Co. Tyrone.

Thomas was born on the 31st October 1924 in Thurles, Co. Tipperary to William and Nora Carroll (nee Russel). He entered the Servite Order at Benburb on the 18th September 1949, received Simple Profession on the 2nd October 1950 and received Solemn Profession on the 2nd April 1953. Thomas was ordained a priest on the 28th June 1953. He died in Ubombo, Zululand on the 25th March 2003 and is buried in the Servite Graveyard, Zululand, South Africa.

Alphonse was born on the 2nd August 1933 in Belfast, County Antrim to Michael and Margaret Mooney (nee Carr). He entered the Servite Order at Benburb on the 16th September 1951, received Simple Profession on the 21 September 1952 and received Solemn Profession on the 25th September 1955. Alphonse was ordained a priest on the 22nd June 1958. Alphonse died in KwaNgwanase, Zululand on the 25th April 2003 and is buried in the Servite Graveyard, Zululand, South Africa.

Seamus was born on the 23 June 1931 in Glasson Co. Westmeath to Edward and Mary Heffernan (nee Slevin). He entered the Servite Order at Benburb on the 26th February 1961, received Simple Profession on the 17th March 962 and received Solemn Profession on the 17th March 1965. Seamus died in Derry on the 2nd October 2004 and is buried in the Servite Graveyard, Benburb, Co. Tyrone.

Michael was born on the 27th August 190 in Currahen, Co. Kerry to Michael and Helen O’Shea (nee Crean). He entered the Servite Order at Benburb on the 18th September 1949, received Simple Profession on the 2nd October 1950 and received Solemn Profession on the 4th October 1953. Michael was ordained a priest on the 8th July 1956 and consecrated Bishop on the 6th of April 1991 for Zululand. Michael died in Empangeni, Zululand, on the 30th May 2006 and is buried in the Servite Graveyard, Zululand, South Africa.

Jude was born on the 28th December 1930 in Clarecastle, Co. Clare to Daniel and Frances Herlihy (nee McMahon). He entered the Servite Order at Benburb on the 18th September 1949, received Simple Profession on the 2nd October 1950 and received Solemn Profession on the 19th September 1954. Jude was ordained a priest on the 8th July 1956. Jude died on the 2007 in Aneheim, California and is buried in the Servite Graveyard, Aneheim. California, U.S.A.

Donald was born in California in 1921 and entered the Third Order of the Servants of Mary whilst studying in Chicago where he met Fr. James Keane OSM. Donald died of Cancer in 1950 and his wish was to be buried in Benburb. Donald is buried next to Fr. James Keane in the Servite Graveyard, Benburb, Co. Tyrone.

Sean was born in Belfast in 1930 and entered the Third Order of the Servants of Mary in the 1950’s. Sean died in Dublin in 1994 and is buried in the Servite Graveyard, Benburb, Co. Tyrone.
